Достоевского или Чехова все знают а мне более интересно знать авторов чуть меньше известных, даже таковых которых производсвтва никто на польский не перевёл.

Добрый день. Может быть, что-то, что вы с удовольствием читали на польском. Чехов. Ну не Достоевский же)

Lucky you :)
Indeed, I like English. Knowing the language opens many doors, gives opportunity to read books that haven't been translated into Polish, review opinions on Poland published by foreign media, and last but not least, helps a lot during travels.

Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to come across a professional teacher like you, practically I have learnt English myself, so I really appreciate your opinion. It's always nice to get a positive feedback from a professional- even if it's dangerously close to flattery :) Actually, spending some time on polishing my English grammar is one of the top items on my to-do list. I hope I will find some time to do it.

I noticed that English does not seem to be very popular among Russians. Is that majority of Russians doesn't feel any need to learn it or perhaps it has its background in the times when the English speaking part of the world, I mean the USA an the UK , was (or perhaps it still is) regarded as the hostile region ?

I deal with who really need English, so it's rewarding, not from the very beginning though, but eventually we get our prize))
By the way, it seems like your English grammar is rather good. I make such a conclusion because I read and see it)

Yeah, I can say I'm lucky as I like what I do, teaching, love kids and adults lessons. I've had special courses except my university, CELTA, as well as different seminars and webinars. Unfirtunately, I don't have an opportunity to travel and master the language as much as I used to, so I'm looking for the way to develop otherwise)

Posting my list of writers I didn't mean to say that no other writers can be of any interest. Of course life has changed not a bit but drammatically, and surely when I choose a book I want it to reglect the reality around me, to be applicable in my life to some extent.
As for Russian writer I can mention Sanaev, Zhvanetsky,Akunin.
I find interesting the books by the following writers: Jodi Picoult, Elizabeth Gilbert, Alexander McCall Smith, Michael Ondaatje, Cecelia Ahern, Paolo Coelho and probably some other writers..I'm not stuck in the 19th century but at times I feel like reading foreign classical literature like Fitzgerald. Unfortunately these days they are rare occasions as I have to read o lot of literature concerning my work to improve as a specialist.

It's the right thing to know writers and poets of your country. At schools pupils don't feel like reading much, especially Distoevsky, Lermontov, Griboedov and others. In th course of the time , with years they start reading the books which they hated)) at school. And often it's the right time to understand them better. I know quite a lot of people who read War and Peace, for example, at a mature age, and it's the right age to understand and benefit from it. I fully agree, if you want to be an educated person with broad mind, the best way to know your country and culture- is through reading writers of your country first along with foreign literature.)

Yes it is very difficult. I have noticed when I am in Poland I seem to pick up the language faster.
