Some people say DT invented Progressive Metal, which might be a bit true. Because it's a mixture of Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, Speed Metal and even a bit of Glam Metal, but focused more on being technically proficient, the perfect melody and progressive roots like that of Pink Floyd.

Yes, they are simply brilliant.
I have not been much interested with Metallica (except for one song) or Guns N Roses but I feel DT is much better. Yeah, listen to some more of their songs and tell me whether you like them. Like I didn't like the song Octavarium at first (it is usually said to be one of the greatest Prog Metal songs ever) but now I love it after listening to it a few more times.

Yeah, I think they released 10 albums? So probably there are a lot of songs, both new and old. I'll check out there old and new albums and tell you which ones I like :)

Dream Theater is very respected by other metal bands and musicians, but people don't appreciate their talent because it isn't as heavy or screaming like others. These guys ave really great endurance too, you must have noticed that some of the songs are almost 25 minutes long and they do it perfectly from beginning to end!
