I just seen a young lady's profile that was very extensive so I will be adding to mine. I'm an MCSE who LOVES snail mail from all over the earth. I will add more later...I am looking pen pals, anyone who wishes to work on their English. My mom was ethnically Russian. I can still read it, sort of. She's been in heaven so long now, I can't claim to speak it anymore. I would love to change that. I am am practicing Jew whose belief in heaven comes and goes but IF there is one, Mum is there. Like yours, too, I hope :-) My big question is how much interaction there is with Adonai. Like is the relationship between us over once the gift of life is received? Or like at 18 He(or She) wants us taking care of ourselves? I am sure the ONLY ones who worry about the actual religion or whatever are humans. Self-centered close minded individuals like Ken Ham are exactly where & when most of this unnecessary hard feelings (sometimes hate) comes from. Soooo I am a Reform Jew who never ever tells anyone what or Who they believe in. It should be a non-issue. OK?
Requests
This is for me to learn a language, make friends, and get postcards. Any creeps and/or marriage brokers, just move on, I am not interested. I'd love to send and receive postcards and/or holiday pictures. I do NOT discuss religion unless it is a fellow Jew OR open-minded folks looking to ask things like how we keep a kippah (sic?) on, stuff like that. In fact my main goal is learning Russian or Hebrew better BUT any honest friends from anywhere are welcome. Straight, gay, South Atlantic Islands, Christian, Zoroastrians, you are all free to write. There may be a lag due to life on life's terms but I eventually will reply. From Orthodox trying to get me back in the "real" fold\synagogue to the "witnesses" who see my mezuzah indicative of a soul needing saved, keep going. I am pretty happy with my religious life and any changes are not going to be from some sort of missionary or whatever,. Just want to get that out of the way. Atheists are always welcome as long as they aren't that very small sliver who are angry. Hmmm I am open to any friendly suggestions and\or corrections.
Language Exchange Requests
I can read the Cyrillic alphabet and remember a dozen or so Russian phrases (from me dear departed mom). I am earnestly studying Hebrew and go to Beirsheet every week.
Hobbies & Interests
Reading, writing, gardening, and cats. I never liked cats until getting an apartment (divorce **sigh**) made big dogs unrealistic. So I got a cat and he is awesome. His name is Willowby for folks interested in just writing him or as a pen pal for YOUR cat. Be warned, he's fixed and none too happy about it :-) Been so long since I filled this out. Willowby and Tristan have joined the choir invisible. I have Beau and am feeding a stray kitten who lives on my deck. Scruffy, she no hurry to be a housecat it seems.
Favorite Music
KISS, Nirvana, Rammstein, Social Distortion, The Kinks, RUSH, early NWA, those dogs that bark "Jingle Bells", Slim Whitman, and an eclectic mix of hard, punk, with some classical and big band thrown in.
Favorite Movies
wow, oh so many. Dr. Strangelove, Midnight Cowboy, Death Race 2000 or ANY Roger Corman flick, Braveheart, and I never thought I would genuinely like a Netflix production but Evil Genius is worth multiple viewings.
Favorite TV Shows
Connections, BBC America, Forensic Files, occasional crappy SyFy mini-series. I don't watch much TV
Favorite Books
Siddhartha, Rendezvous with Rama, The Last Lion, Khrushchev Remembers, those really really creepy newsletters from Pastor (?!?) Tony Alamo, UFOs and YOUR future, National Lampoons from the 70s, Mad Magazine, ShoGun, Tai-Pan, King Rat, ANY Arthur C. Clarke, and almost any Robert Heinlein. Oh, and the Forever War. Very much worth a read especially fellow armed service veterans.
Favorite Quotes
Life is short, Live it up. - Khruschev
This trial is a travesty. It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham. - Fielding Mellish
