Any professional programmers living and working in the USA who would like to talk shop and discuss emerging trends, best practices, and geek out over their favorite or pet projects?

(Especially web technologies, which is where my expertise lies, but I'm happy to talk to programmers in other fields using other languages)

Anyone interested in reading books to each other in our respective languages over a voice or video call? You can pick the books (within reason, I might refuse to read certain types of content). You can also ask me to explain words or phrases you don't know while I am reading.

Any girls out there who prefer a simple and quiet life in the countryside, surrounded by nature, tending a small garden and orchard, and enjoying your own family, turning your back on civilization and the world? 🤔

Asking for a friend 😉🤣 jk

Are there any women on here who aren't obsessed with the city life, having lots of money, and chasing material possessions? Or has the whole world already become so materialistic and void of personality and values and character? 🤔

I get a lot of messages on here most days, and I've noticed a lot of people don't follow up anymore even after a seemingly pleasant and stable conversation. I have been guilty of it myself.

This is not "ghosting", it's just negligence and can be completely accidental. At least for my part I think it's totally ok to send another message even if your previous message has not been responded to, as long as it's not the same day. I would say a week without a response is plenty of time to write again just to see if your conversation got lost in a sea of randos.

Ideally, I would much prefer to have a handful of people that I talk to regularly over time, than to talk to different people every day and never really get to know, or connect with, anyone.

So if you already have a sizeable conversation history with me, and you thought we were getting along well, but you haven't heard from me in a long time, don't be shy to give me a little nudge by sending another message.
