well are you close to him?? like as in being friends?? because if you are, you can just ask him what he likes but dont tell him you're getting him anything. then give it to him but don't tell him its you that gave it to him. since he doesnt know who gave it to him, you could confess and you sould see whether he likes you or not....d o you get what im saying~?? >.<
