Me in a can: Patient, mature, immature, quiet (most of the time), reserved, old fashioned, caring, imaginative, and curious.  I'm a teacher by profession, but I also feel that I am a lifetime student.  I love to learn.
  I enjoy being outside doing things, but I also like to learn about history and such.  I joined interpals because I am interested in getting to know not only other people, but also other people's cultures.  You can treat me as your American diary.  Share your thoughts and feelings and your diary will share right back.  What fun!

I am primarily enterested in snail mail.  I have never had the opportunity to write with someone from another county on a regular basis.  emailing back and forth is fine too.  I wan't to know about the little things in a person's life.  Whether they take coffee or tea with their breakfast, what kind of fears and dreams they have, etc. 

Also, I feel the need to add that I am not interested in proclamations of love, requests of money, or comments of how hot I am. I say this not because I've ever had issues of this or that I foresee them in the future, but because I've been feeling left out after seeing so many others stating this at the end of their requests.  I feel better now.  Oh, and I wasn't serious about the "hot" comment.  Complement away if you must.

Hiking/camping, reading, all sports, sketching, and just about any kind of game, be it table top, computer, or video.  I live for pen and paper role play (especialy D&D), and am an ex-WoW player.  I'm not much for the fastpaced cosmo life.  I'm more at home in my own back yard or on the computer learning about something or someone.

I am a big fan of the blues and jazz.  Where I live, our radio stations do not accomodate my likes, so I end up listening to country or rock. 

IN the blues genre I like Keb' Mo, Lightnin Hopkins, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Susan Tdeschi, Ray Charles, etc.
For jazz, I like anyone who can make an instrument sing.  I like hearing all of the different types of instruments adding their own voices.  Squirrel Nut Zippers is a swing/jazz group that is one of my favorites.

I like nearly anything in the fantasy genre (such as the Dresden Files)or historical fiction (a favorite right now is the Sharpe series by Bernard Cornwell).  I always have at least one book going.
