No, I'm not a spiritualist at all. And I do think that the way we react to events shapes and shows what kind of persons we are. So, in a way, goodness depends on conditions. For example, if you're rich and you don't care about a sick poor man who can't afford health care, then you're a bad person. In such an examples conditions/circumstances matter and set up a framework in which a person shows what he really is.
Total freedom doesn't exist. Neither does total independence. I think there are degrees in individual freedom :)
Oh yea, I definitely believe spirits and humans exist in separate realms - even though God may allow our paths to cross sometimes. And I believe in individual, personal spirits, not in a huge consciousness made up of distinguishable spirits. Hope I answered your questions :)
