You want to live off of campus? Or on? Either way is fine, but researching the local neighborhoods and seeing which accommadates you the best is a good start. ^^ I could give some tips regarding that in a private message if you wanted to live off of campus. And nervousness is totally normal to have, it would be odd if you didn't lol. But that can be easily assuaged and alleviated.
Nyu I've heard lots of good things about it, but don't know it personally unfortunately. :)
