Very worried right now about what’s happening in Iran and across the Middle East. The situation is extremely sensitive, with tensions escalating sharply after recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory actions across the Gulf including the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy route.

We are unable to contact any family and friends in Iran right now, and that uncertainty is truly terrifying. With internal unrest already ongoing in the country and regional powers positioning themselves, Iran feels vulnerable to any kind of revolutionary hijacking or power grab at a moment like this.

Over the coming weeks the world will learn more about the true intentions behind the strikes and responses from Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and others and how this crisis unfolds will have deep implications for people there and around the world.

Please pray for everyone in the region right now for safety, wisdom, and peace in a moment that feels incredibly fragile and unpredictable.

It’s laughable to me that I wake up today and suddenly Iran is everywhere in U.S. headlines. Where was this energy in January when people were being slaughtered in the streets during the protests? I remember searching nonstop, looking left and right for any major coverage, any outrage, any sign that someone with a platform cared. There was almost nothing.

Now it’s plastered across every outlet, but the angle feels the same as always: what does this mean for America, for U.S. troops, for U.S. politics. People already died. Iranians already paid in blood. The cost of life, the brutality of a regime that kills its own citizens, that’s not the focus. Instead it’s strategy, optics, and self-interest. Meanwhile the reality inside Iran is complex and painful, with groups like the MEK, those fighting for a free Iran, and even leftist voices who don’t want war caught in the middle of it all. The human cost should have mattered before it became geopolitically convenient.

I’ve been watching what’s happening in Iran every day for the past two months, and it has deeply affected me. The level of violence against civilians, the crackdowns, killings, massacres, executions, and the internet blackouts to hide it all have been horrifying and something you cannot unsee. Hearing firsthand accounts from family and friends while seeing how limited and sometimes misleading Western media coverage can be has made me far more skeptical of mainstream narratives.

I am thankful that the United States and Israel took action, even though I am skeptical of their intentions and do not believe any government acts purely out of altruism. I do not see this as the start of an endless war so much as an attempt to dismantle an oppressive regime that has harmed its own people and supported violence beyond its borders. I am both cautious and hopeful about what comes next. I am excited for Pallavi and others who want to return to Iran and help guide the country toward whatever form of democracy its people choose, whether secular, republic, or otherwise, as long as positive change comes from it. Whether the broader vision behind all of this is rooted in pure intention or driven by interests we cannot see, I do not know, and that uncertainty scares me.

I understand there are opposing views, and I respect them. This is simply where my heart and mind are right now.
