Yes, it is, Buzz. Actually, some people in the region refer to our variety as 'RÃoplatense,' the only other country which shares it is Uruguay, but even so there are certain differences between our two countries. We also have quite a funny accent, and to foreign ears, especially those trained in Spain's Spanish, a bit difficult to understand. If you're interested, I can recommend some films to you where you can have a go at Argentinean Spanish. By the way, do you normally spell Argentinean with an 'e' or an 'i' as in Argentinian. I was taught the latter, but I've seen the former as well in writing and I wonder if your way of spelling is a question of variety or because some people consider my way of spelling it derogatory?
