What do you need to know about me?

I'm Welsh/British. That means I'll gladly help you fix your English. Especially if I can promote British English over American English.

I'm a scientist who left. Now I work in strategy. I manage a data science team. For many years I was conflicted about leaving science. I'm still a scientist at heart.

I started learning languages because I always found it hard at school and wanted to prove to myself I could. I don't like not being good at things.

I started by teaching myself German the hard way with just a novel and a dictionary. I still read German books but these days my focus is on learning Ukrainian. If anyone wants to help me I'll be eternally grateful.

I originally wanted to move to Germany, but an opportunity to move to Amsterdam came along and I took it with both hands.

I am ambitious, but I don't think it's the route to happiness. Sometimes we have to stop wanting more. I've delved into philosophy from time to time and the concepts fascinate me.

History fascinates me. I often enjoy reading fiction with a historical aspect. Crime has been my genre of choice in the last decade.

In general I'm a very curious person. I always want to learn more. I believe knowledge has intrinsic value.

I used to say Discworld was my favourite. But these days I'm more into crime fiction. I consider Stamboul Train to be my favourite book.
