Alright! Seems like it's time for me to update my profile again. This time I won't overhaul it completely though since most of the stuff on here is still quite up to date.
First of all: Welcome to my profile and thank you for taking the time to read through it! That is really awesome!
Second of all: I will tell you a bit about myself and why I'm here. I'm an Anglistics and history student, so I love languages and interacting with other cultures. I'm also a huge aviation enthusiast. In fact, flying is one of the highlights of any vacation for me!
Languages, cultures and traveling. If those aren't good reason to be on this site then I don't know what is.
I'm very grateful for having had the opportunity to travel a lot during the years of my still young life. I have been to quite a few countries but there are three that I gave my heart to:
1. USA (I have been there 6 times)
2. Italy (been there 3 times)
3. England/Scotland (been once respectively)
And I could imagine living in one of those countries in the some time in the future. Maybe not forever but definitely for an extended period of time. Or maybe forever, who knows.
I'm also very interested in the Nordic countries (especially Finland and Iceland) because I just find their languages and history extremely fascinating.
Same goes for New Zealand and Australia. That's actually one of the more random facts about me: I'd really like to do a Haka with a great bunch of guys one day.
After a friend of mine had moved to South Africa a few years back, she invited me to visit her there one day. I'll definitely stay true to that promise in the near future too.
So those are basically my travel plans for the next couple of years probably.
And before we go to the next sections, here are a few guidelines you should consider when interacting with me.
Here it goes then, what should you know when talking to me?
1. If you are respectful, so am I. Simple as that. I always try to treat people as I want to be treated myself. If you don't like me, just leave. There's no reason to be insulting or offensive. Not that I care what a person from the other side of the world thinks of me. But we could both save some time.
Otherwise, I'll always try to be friendly and polite to you, no matter where you're from.
2. Beware! My messages might be sprinkled with irony, sarcasm and humor, some of it really dark, and I won't be sorry or ashamed of it because that's just who I am. Deal with it. I also like wordplays.
3. Honesty. I won't tell you what you want to hear. I will always tell you exactly what I think, whatever that may be. My opinion offends you and you don't agree? Cool! Let's have a conversation about it! You can't deal with it? You are welcome to leave. Nobody's forcing you to argue with me.
4. Down-to-earth. I absolutely despise arrogance and douchebaggery! You are proud of who you are and what you've achieved? Great! Use it to become even better and help other people on the way. But don't brag about it or feel superior because of it.
5. Most of the time, I'm quite busy. I try to keep up with all my messages but I can't promise that I will answer immidiately after I read your message. If I take more than a few days to reply to your message, I'm most likely dead or just not interested in talking to you. Even though the first is more likely since I always try to tell people in a polite way if I'm not interested in talking to them.
Right now I can't think of any other important points but if they come up, I'll add them to this list.
But so far: To be continued ...
Requests
1. As stated above, I'll show you as much respect as you show me. So, be friendly and I'm sure we're gonna have a nice conversation.
2. I'm NOT going to reply to messages that only consist of 5 words or less. If you're only going to say "hi", "hey", "hello" or any other variation of a greeting, please do that to someone else. Same thing goes for people asking "how are you?". It only shows me that you are not willing to take the time to read through my profile and come up with something interesting to initiate a conversation.
Also, most of the people who send something like that aren't usually able to carry a conversation. So, again, save us both some time.
3. I'll be honest with you right away. You can write me no matter where you are from but I really prefer talking to people from the countries that I mentioned above in the 'About me' section.
If you write me, you should be at least fluent in English. It is really tiring and time-consuming if I have to decipher every second sentence to understand it.
Language Exchange Requests
As I said before, I'm mostly here because I want to talk to people from the US, Italy, UK, and the Scandinavian countries.
You are also welcome to message me if you are from anywhere else, of course. You never know when or where you meet interesting people. And we could get along well even if you are not from any of the countries that I mentioned. Those are just my preferences though. But you are always welcome to message me, be sure about that.
German is my mother tongue and I'm fluent in English. I also know a bit of Latin. Some time in the future I want to learn Italian, Spanish and one or two of the Scandinavian languages. But my lazy ass hasn't made any attempts to actually do so yet.
I want to make ONE THING very clear: I'm not here to teach any languages! I also don't expect you to teach me your language. If we learn from each other by writing or talking, that's fine. But I don't have the time or patience to teach you the basics of German or English. So please stay away from requesting anything like that.
Hobbies & Interests
If I didn't hold myself back this would probably the longest section of this entire profile. But I will purposely keep this part a bit shorter because that's what we will probably talk most about if you message me. So I guess, I'll just make some bullet points? We'll see, maybe I'll find the time to be a bit more descriptive later.
- aviation enthusiast
- lives for traveling
- wants to learn new languages but is best at procrastinating
- is into fitness, baseball and American football
- doesn't drink or smoke (Is that even a hobby?)
- thrives on excessive meals but sticks to a strict diet most of the time (seriously, according to food labels I'm a family of four)
- loves the sun and the heat (even though my whiter than white skin is not so happy about it)
- likes watching TV shows, movies and reading (Which sane person doesn't?)
- doesn't have a social life (sadly that's mostly true during the semester when there's only time for sport, work and studies)
Wow, this turned into a list of completely random things real quick. Anyway, it's far from complete but I hope that gave you some kind of idea who you are dealing with.
As I said before, maybe I'll find the time to add to the list and be a bit more detailed about it. But I won't promise that. So take what you get.
Favorite Music
There is no particular genre that I'm a fan of. There is, however, a band that has impacted my life greatly: Linkin Park. I've been a huge fan of them since 2007, so they've influenced my adolescence and young adulthood greatly. If you're interested, let me tell you how Chester Bennington helped me become the person I am now and how devastating his death was to me.
I'm going to list a few other bands/artists/genres that I like. This list will be continuous and in no particular order.
- Avril Lavigne (her old stuff)
- Bruce Springsteen
- Rammstein
- Green Day
- Classic Rock
- Country (sometimes)

What I said above, goes for the next couple of lists too. The choices for favorite books, movies and TV shows are just a random selection of pieces I like and that just popped in my mind. No particular order and definitely not complete.

- Full Metal Jacket
- Into the Wild

Now this seems to be the end of my profile.
It was quite long, wasn't it? But you've made it to this point anyway. That is pretty awesome and I really appreciate it.
I mean, you could've been doing anything. Anything in the entire world! And you chose to spend a few minutes with me.
I really appreciate that and look forward to talking to you.
