I'm a 22-year old Finnish student from Helsinki. My name is Eemil, but I usually go by the name of EmeX. I've moved to Tampere to pursue new studies in Mechanical Engineering, before that I tried my wings in mathematics.
I think it is important to state your sexuality pretty fast, this site being a sort of a place all sorts of people happen to use. I'm heterosexual, but I wouldn't say that any of my physical traits define me, on the contrary: I have had long hair and strangers would often mistake me being a girl. I would describe myself as an analytic introvert and a idealist - I like to think things deeply. People often tell me that I'm intelligent or profound. I'm not really sure about that, but I would say that I'm proud of my rhetoric skills. I value success, friends, career, ambition and diligence. I wouldn't say that I'm ambitious or diligent myself, but I will work hard for things that I value or find important.
Lastly, about my personal appearance. I have short hair, I'm about 185cm tall, and I weigh about 60kg. I do not value appearance strongly, but I think that it is important to keep yourself in a shape that doesn't strain yourself too much: I think it was Socrates who said that it is a real shame if a person on their mid-40's hadn't experienced the beauty of their body, showing what's it capable of. I like to think the same, except with the beauty of one's soul, personality, wits, whatever you may call it. I must admit that personal hygiene is more important than your looks.
Requests
To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for here at interpals. I think that regular chatting with interesting people would be nice. A lot has happened in the past years. My father died, I had a few relationships, one of them a shorter one, one of them a really deep and emotional experience. It feels like I'd want to just either left alone or have some people to share some experiences with me.
I must admit that I haven't omitted the thought of finding a relationship here.
Feel free to chat or email me. If you send me a message, I will surely reply to you if you would treat the message like you treat yourself and others around you: be polite, and tell a bit about yourself and what's on your mind, etc. I'm sure that we can either have short chit chat about the nature of politics, civics or other ideas, or we could dive into a conversation that could last for years :)
Hobbies & Interests
I like mathematics, physics, philosophy and chemistry. I'm pretty sure that I will use my skills with mathematics to make a living for myself somehow. I like to chat, Skype, watch anime and play computer games on my computer. I like people who can express themselves with opinions and values which they can easily rationalize. I like to go walking or jogging, and I usually grab a drink from a convenience store while I'm at it. I have fenced with a sabré, but I quit it when it came clear to me that I would enroll to a boarding school. I've recently started reading more about Buddhist philosophy, and I think that is the mindset for me.
Favorite Music
I listen mostly to electronic and metal. Insomnium, In Flames and Soilwork are my favourite bands, and I really like Sabaton. Koda, Mogwai, Tom Day, James Young, Blank Banshee and Approaching Nirvana are really good too.
I think it's worth a mention that although I'm not musically talented, I do play a rhytm game called osu!, and I consider myself to be quite good in the keyboard osu!mania mode (best map I've cleared is 4.88 stars). I've also started playing the normal mode, with best results in a 5.47 star DT map and best clear of 6.53.
Favorite Movies
Platoon, Letters from Iwo Jima, Saving Private Ryan, V for Vendetta, Matrix, Alien, Back to the Future.
Favorite TV Shows
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Planetes and Psycho-Pass are the definite top 3 of shows that I have watched.
Favorite Books
I do not read a lot of books, but my definite faves are Katawa Shoujo (even if it's not a 'real' book), 1984 by George Orwell and thrillers of Ilkka Remes. I must also divulge that yes, I did really enjoy reading Mein Kampf, which, I truly know, might upset some of you. I also found August Kubizek's The Young Hitler I Knew interesting, as it shines light on what type of a person the so strong willed and "utopist" Hitler truly was. I plan on reading about Stalin, Mao, and Che Guevara on the future.
I've recently read "The Darker side of Folkhemmet" by Tapio Tamminen, and Max Weber's "The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism" is a book I've enjoyed reading as well -- the updated English translation from the 60's with the original German text from 1904-1905 is in all honesty a hard book to read but the philosophical side interested me. I also plan on reading Foucault's Discipline and Punish and Brave New World by Huxley when I have some free time.
Some other books I've read include non-fiction about Erdoğan, Finnish Jägers in 1914-1918, Terrorism and Wahhabism, etc.
