That's true, pronouncing the " ř " it's alot difficult. I took months and months to spell it correctly, mostly when I have to exercise myself with "kuřeci řizek na skřini" :)
it's not impossible to learn the Czech vowels, the difficult thing is to keep focusing in it, and the famous seven cases are more harder and tricky than the ř :P
